The Keough's were so
appreciative to see and talk to so many of you. They apologize if they
didn't get a chance to speak to each one and they hope you'll
understand.

To our surprise they brought both volumes and its interesting to compare
them side by side to see how technology in production has changed
mostly in print quality since 2003.

If you were in during the peak around 2 and didn't get a chance to
handle the tomes I've arranged to keep them at the gallery till Tuesday.
Unfortunately the cases, which are an amazing piece of book technology
and are the only ones of this quality in the world, have to go with them
to their next stop on this tour so they won't be here Mon. & Tues..
Having said that I will open this Monday from 12:00 - 4:00 specially
to view these books. Tuesday will be the regular hours but I will be
closed between 12:00 and 2:30 for the Walk A Mile event at Portage and
Main (Ladybug Foundation).

Thanks again to all that attended for demonstrating that Manitoba
photographers appreciate the works of other Canadian image takers.

<![CDATA[Pixels Special Event, Sunday, Jan 29]]> http://mcc.webhop.net/mcc/index.php?tid=806&tpg=1#p2989 be learning about three brand new concepts in book publishing. These are
world wide launches.

On Sunday Friesens will be launching two new book press products.
They've made a major investment in a brand new digital press, the first
in North America, to accommodate these projects and you'll be the first
in the world to know about it. I had the pleasure of spending a day with
their printing press people to see it in action and it is amazing.
You'll see the actual first production books that have come off this new
press.

Turnstone Press, one of Canada leading publishers, and may I add multi
award winning publishers, has a completely new concept that they will
discuss with us and this is leading edge, I won't say anymore. They will
spend time on book content and distribution and real expectations on
how to make money in the book business.

Mike Grandmaison and Dennis Fast have new books that they will be
showing that are new concept publications and some even include world
wide distribution packages. Very interesting.

Have you ever heard the term "tome". Wikipedia defines it "A tome is a
large book, especially one volume of a multi-volume scholarly work." You
will see the newly released volume two tome entitled "Labyrinth
Sublime" from the internationally acclaimed and award winning
photographers Pat and Rosemarie Keough. They are going to show all the
fine details that have gone into this amazing 40 lb. book and then
you'll understand why its won so many awards and is $5000 cdn. a copy
(Sorry Sold Out).

Debbie Vokie is representing a group from the Manitoba Camera Club. They
have been testing a number of online book publishers and she will walk
you through some of what they have learned. My Publisher, Blurb,
MixBook are a few of what you'll be introduced to.

In all it's going to be a very interesting and educational day and one you'll not likely to forget, I know I won't.
